As there is considerable shortage of accommodation,
visitors are not permitted to stay for long
periods. Ordinarily they are allowed to stay
only for three days. The stay can, however,
be extended in special cases. Visitors wishing
to stay at Sri Ramanasramam are advised to write
to the President of the Ashram sufficiently
in advance to ascertain whether accommodation
is available. No visitor has a right to accommodation,
especially a particular accommodation. The allotment
of accommodation is entirely at the discretion
of the management.
The Ashram maintains a kitchen for serving simple
South Indian meals to the residents and visitors.
Some vegetable dishes without condiments and
spices are also served to those who are not
accustomed to South Indian dishes.
Sincere seekers will certainly experience the
tangible peace which permeates the Ashram premises
and will do well so long as they are in the
Ashram to make the best use of this Divine Presence
by pursuing the spiritual ideals taught and
lived by the Master.
Visitors wishing to see places on and around
the hill associated with the life of the Maharshi
should ask in the office for guidance. They
should also, especially if new to India, be
cautious in dealings with outside venders and
contractors.
Major renovation of our guest-rooms is being taken up forthwith. About 40% of our rooms, about 45 rooms, will not be available for accommodation for about 18 months from 5th March 2011 onwards.
Hence we appeal to our fellow devotees to make their requests at least 2 to 3 months in advance and cut short their stay with us to the minimum extent possible.
We strongly recommend and are compelled to inform our fellow devotees that NO request be made on telephone for accommodation in our Ashram but only in writing either through email or by a letter. This is because for any day within the next three weeks the availability of rooms is only half the number of requests. So we appeal to our devotees to make the request for date/dates beyond three weeks giving us the date of arrival, number of persons and stay period (number of days).
