Swami Ramanananda’s mortal coil was laid to Samadhi on Thursday the 27th December at about 4 p.m. and a Lingam was installed on the Samadhi soon after. For twelve days since then till the 7th January 2008 pooja was offered daily to the Lingam by Swamiji’s poorvasrama eldest son V.S.Ramanan, President, Sri Ramanasramam, with Sushila Ramanan and brothers V.Ganesan and V.S.Mani by his side and in the presence of a large number of Bhagavan’s devotees.

On the 13th day i.e. on Tuesday the 8th January, Aradhana was observed for the Brahmaleena Swamiji in a manner befitting a sannyasi.

Aksharamanamalai, Vedic mantras and Upadesa Saram were chanted. Gifts in cash and kind were offered to sixteen (shodasi) priests and after the ceremonies were all over, there was a bhiksha in the Ashram dining hall in which a large number of devotees including a good number of outstation devotees who had come specially to attend the ‘Aradhana’ partook of the prasadam and earlier, during the Narayana Seva, besides the customary food, sweets and special items of food were offered.

Swami Ramanananda was as elegant, natural and beloved of all as a sannyasi as he was as T.N.Venkataraman, the householder till July 1994 when he took Sannyasa diksha from Poojya Swami Chidananda Saraswati, President, Divine Life Society, Rishikesh. He talked freely and joked with everyone and when people touched his feet, he would pat on their backs, whether his own children or other devotees, with equal affection. Everyone felt that Swamiji was specially kind to him or to her. A life-long Gandhian and staunch Bhagavan devotee, he lived a very simple life till the end.
